Burrow Watchers, 2020. Mixed media on Giclée Canson Fine Art print. Unique hand-painted work. Victoria Marques Pinto, born in Oporto, Portugal, 1994, with Spanish and Portuguese nationality, is a multidisciplinary photographer and artist who has lived in Portugal, Spain, England and Austria and currently works between Madrid and London. She is represented in the UK by the London based gallery, Black Box Projects. Through her mixed-media landscapes, Marques Pinto explores and emphasises the human impact on the natural world. The artist intervenes into traditional landscape compositions with paint and other materials to create strange new realities, sometimes witty and playful, but always hinting at a greater permanence and perhaps consequence of our actions. The series Kalahari Hues is a visual ode to the fragility and beauty of the ecosystem in the southern Kalahari desert.
